Re: Formula 1 - 2011
I know i have been harping on this but WTF is going on in RBR?
Mark can't seem to get a break.
I am feeling for Mark, as it seems that all the decisions being made are not the right ones.
Why would you not go with the soft (optional) tyre?
It's like they didn't want him on the front row.

Re: Formula 1 - 2011
Bugga, bugga, bugga...I keep forgetting the F1 now that it isn't on Sports 1, 2 or 3, only on One HD!! Only just saw that Webber qualified 18th. In his interviews he was either quite accepting of the situation or being very diplomatic. RBR have had it so good for so long that I suppose they have to have a few bad days now and then, but why can't it happen to Vettel not Webber!!! Coincidene or are they tryng things on Webber's car first before they implement them on Vettel's car?
Re: Formula 1 - 2011
That's what i am thinking too BM but why does Vettels KERS work but Marks doesn't.
It makes no sense.
I mean why didn't they pull him in, throw on a set of super softs & qualify up the field more.
Instead they stayed out.

WOW what a race, absolutly awesome race to watch. Again RBR's Kers system wasnt working the entire time and it cost vettel 1st and if webber had it he might have even gotten up to 2nd. Cant watch to see the post race conference.

Re: Formula 1 - 2011
What a hell of a race.
Webber was on fire even without KERS. (Stick that one in the tail pipe Vettel, 18th to 3rd)
Give him 2 more laps i reckon he would have been all over Vettel if not Hamilton. (but that is a what could off)
I think i agree with you BM on the before post, they had to be trialing parts on Mark's car.
I watched the interview before the race with Mark & I thought that his answers were not quite right plus his body language sort of gave it away. (just my thoughts anyway)

Re: Formula 1 - 2011
I agree, what an awesome drive by Webber. Having that extra rubber sure helps during the race.
See Vettel wait for Webber to sort out the car before they gave each other congratulations, makes me think a lot of the angst between them is more of a media beat up than reality.
Interesting if they are experimenting using Webber's car.
Also like Webber's comments in the post race that it was good for Louis to win so that it kept the points closer.

Re: Formula 1 - 2011
Practice 1 and 2 done and run in Turkey. It seems like ages since the last GP in China and so I am pretty happy that we finally have some action again.
Webber and Vettel where well of the pace with rain in the first session and dry for the second. Vettel spun the car on turn 8 and did that much damage that he was not able to run again. Webber was pretty happy with sessions especially given his KERS ran with out incident.
Button fastest from Rosberg at the end of day 1 (Hamilton, Schumacher and Webber).

Re: Formula 1 - 2011
Nice job Red Bull. Gonna be interesting race hope Mark can get a good start from the dirty side of the track and at least be 2nd into the first corner.
Post race interview Linky One of the reporters asked Mark and Seb about last years coming together and Mark was the one who replied.
Should be a interesting race with what strategy is used and there is a good chance of rain as well.

Re: Formula 1 - 2011
Was some pretty excitign qualifying. It just amazes me the tiny differences between the drivers laps, and yet they talk about 4 tenths as being a big gap!! At one stage yesterday the gap between a couple of them was something like one thousand of a second or something. I mean, it took me 100 times longer to type that
Something that has been buggin me, and obviously a critical issue, why when they show the names on the screen during qualifying etc do they show all of the other drivers as the first three letters of their surname, except Michael Schumacher?? His is shown as MSC
A lot of talk already about whether Red Bull will offer Webber a contract at the end of 2011, what do you think?
I have an early flight tomorrow morning, and will be recording the race, so will need to try and avoid all forms of media for two days so I don't hear the result

Re: Formula 1 - 2011
Vettel is running away with the championship and at least Webber scored some good points but the start did not help him and he struggled in the middle with Vettel appearing to back of a bit.
I think Webber will be offered another year (given how the season has unfolded so far) if he helps Red Bull to gain the constructor championship. Not sure there is another team he could drive for with the chance of claiming a championship other than Red Bull (I recon he would be a definite number 2 at Ferrari) where as it seems if he gets it right he could be free to fight with Seb. I think he is number 2 at Red bull but it appears he is allowed to run his race and if he wins then great (but still to early to really tell on that front).

Re: Formula 1 - 2011
My thoughts too Watzi.
Mark really struggles with the starts, very rarely does he get a good start & then he goes all defensive for a few laps & by then the leader is off up the road by 3 - 4 secs.
Also i have notice towards the backend of the race Mark is really strong & i am wondering if he is really in tyre conserve mode too much.
The drive last round was no hold bar racing as he had the tyres to really hang it out.
Interesting the commentators giving it to Shumacher about racing back in the field.
"Coultard": I just don't understand why he just didn't give up
"Brundle": What his carrer ..........

That was funny when it happened Will, long silence after it and then neither really knew what to say next.

All I can say is awesome lap Webber!!
I can not believe that 10 decided that we should have to watch the 5th quarter rather than the qually (I know it was on at 10pm our time but at least it would have been 11 rather than 11:30). Only positive thing was they seemed to show the whole thing and not cut times out.

Re: Formula 1 - 2011
Was so excited about the race and then to be 3rd by the first corner and just stuck behind Alonso for so long was sooooo disappointing. I kept thinking he was gaining on Button but I guess he pushed to catch him and his tyres went off so just settled for 3rd. I was amazed that Alonso was lapped in the end.
Well we have practice 1 and 2 tomorrow for Monaco and then practice 3 and qualy on Saturday. I like it when we have back to back race weekends.

yeah was disappointing that he got stuck behind alonso for so long, if he was able to get past alsono by the 2nd stop i reckon he could have fought for podiums but not to be. Now to monaco (i love back to back week races hehehe ) looking forward to it

Re: Formula 1 - 2011
First 2 practise sessions are done. Alonso is the quickest.
Not sure what they have done with DRS but did read that they where not allowed to open in tunnel, so guessing everywhere else is fine???
Webber no laps in practise one but then plenty in two (had a gear box problem) and is still only 8th (1.5 seconds off Alonso).

Re: Formula 1 - 2011
wow what can i say. was definetly an eventful race and was great to watch. very disappointed with red bull pit stops. was very surprised that they could change tyres and fix stuff under the red flag, was very disappointing as i was looking forward to seeing how the end of the race on those tyres were going to end. lots of other things which i could go on about hahaha

Re: Formula 1 - 2011
Yes, some very "interesting" overtaking choices caused by frustration, especially by Hamilton. Nothing out of the ordinary though for Schumacher to stuff it up the inside of someone Was spewing about them being able to change tyres under red flag Ulti. Would have loved to see the last few laps with Vettel's tyres gone. He certainly is leading a charmed life at the moment, although, as much as I hate to say it, he sure can drive a race car.
How funny was it seeing Hamilton and Massa go at it. Like a coule of kids in go karts

Re: Formula 1 - 2011
Did anyone stay up last night or just record the qually? I tried to record it but my PVR is a SD one and at the moment it is just not liking the aerial/reception we are getting.
So I just looked at the results this morning and it seems really interesting strategies that everyone is running which effected qualifying positions:
- RBR split so Webber has more down force than Vettel (Webber yet again had KERS issues, something is just not right) [Side note did read a article recently by Webber saying that he just has not come to grips with the new tyres and that is where most of his issues are]
- McLaren have both gone with high down force because of the greater likely hood of rain.
- stewards have allowed the Virign of D'Amrosio to race even though he is not in 107% (interesting that the HRT out qualified the Vigins). Again the Virgins have said they are running higher down force because of the high likely hood of rain.
Given I can not record this I am highly temped to get up and watch it because it is shaping up as being a great race especially if it does do a bit of raining. Anyone else going to watch it or just record?
