Formula 1 Empty Formula 1

Post  Watziznehm Tue Nov 24, 2009 2:13 pm

Well over the last little while there seems to be much that is happening in F1

- Brawn is gone they are now Mercedes with Nico Rosberg driving on car (think they are hoping for Heidfeld as the other driver???)
- Jenson Button off to McLaren : who will be the number 1 driver, if such a concept exists any more
- Barrichello goes to Williams
- 3 new teams (one being Lotus)
- New rules including no refueling during races

I am sure there is more that people can add but I am looking forward to 2010 and how the whole season pans out with all the changes. It seems to me that there is more changes for the coming year than ever before.

Some more updates:

- BMW are leaving F1 and are going to sell back to Peter Sauber (who started the team initially).
- Sutil and Liuzzi are staying at Force India.

Thought with Sauber now being included that Kimi Räikkönen might get a seat after all in F1 next year but it would seem that he has signed a one year deal to drive a Citroen’s Red Bull-backed junior team in the 2010 World Rally Championship.

Also I see that Silverstone has retained the British gp for the next 17 years rather than going to Donington Park.

That's interesting. I seem to remember that a few years back, competition points were also tied to funding from the governing body. I think that's why when Mark Webber got those points for Minardi that it was such a big deal. Is that still the case?

Not sure about that Triggy. I had not heard about that but maybe some one else can shed some light ....

Other news is that Lotus has announce the 2 main drivers for next year: Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen

Triggy is right...

whilst i don't have any updated info since the new concord was signed, the previous arrangement for as long as i can remember was that Bernie's company (or conglomeration) as a reward for scoring a championship point in the previous year will fly the cars to all the away rounds (ie. outside of Europe). So in essence there was millions of dollars worth for scroing a championship point, hence Minardi being happy for Webber scoring a point...

I thought he had a crook back, which is why he didn't fill in for the prancing horse this year. Would be interesting to see him back.

To be honest i hope he doesn't come back. I really think they need to start getting new blood into the sport.

If the oldies are going to keep making come backs people will start turning it off.

He has had his time & now they need to keep making it fresh.

Wasn't his back Triggy it was his neck. Plus i am sure they said he wouldn't be right for another 12months.

It seems the deal is done and Schumacher is back in F1. His race engineer will be none other than Ross Brawn.

Well with less than a week till the F1 season kicks off we have lost one team already USF1 ran out of money and did not have a car. Very disappointing that a team can use smoke and mirrors and stop someone else taking there place for the season. All in all some good times over the practice sessions so should be an interesting season.

Not that anyone is trying to build it up but from Formula1.com : "The return of Michael Schumacher; four world champions on the grid; at least three leading teams in which team mates will be fighting head-to-head for the title honours; and the prospect of drivers having to display genuine finesse in nursing their tyres now that refuelling has been banned.

Is it any wonder that 2010 is being billed as a fantastic season for the FIA Formula One World Championship? The wait is almost over..."

I guess next weekend we will see.

First qualifying session for the year done and dusted and I guess the major surprise is that RBR has done as well. I did not see any of this because I was dragged out for the evening and got home well after it finished [shoulda set the PVR but ahhh well].

I read that it should have been a RedBull 1 and 2 but that Webber made a mistake and it cost him badly (well 4 or 5 places). I guess there was not real surprise about the cars at the back of the field but still early days.

Anyway looking forward to tonights racing.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it too Watzi, can't stop looking at the clock waiting for it to start (was like this for the Americas Cup a few weeks ago) bounce Going to be a great season I reckon. Love seeing the Lotus name back, their cars look great too. The Red Bulls qualified fairly well, but I thought I heard them talking about their tyres going off fairly quickly which could be interesting.

A couple of the changes that will certainly make it interesting....8 engines 19 races, no more than one gearbox for four consecutive events, and of course no refuelling during the race. Let's hope they are btter at calculating fuel consumtion than some of us are in rFactor Razz

Rather boring race I thought. Only excitement was seeing how many would get past Vettel before the end of the race.
