Re: Cricket in general
Well Sri Lanka manage to find a way to lose (I believe that have now lost 4 from 4 finals).
WI must have bowled really well.

Hadn't seen it yet, but wouldn't have given the Windies a chance in hell of winning their last two games. Even more surprising they won with Gayle only getting 3 runs!! Well done to them, will watch the replay today.
Good on the girls too!! Great win over the Poms!!

Re: Cricket in general
Two tests down and two luck escapes for SA, they just have not looked like the number 1 ranked side in the world. Hope Clarke's form continues for a while, I am guessing Quieny has had his test experience now.
See that this afternoon the Poms beat India (in India), massive knock from Cook and great bowling from Panisar.

Yes, where is that awesome bowling attack we have been hearing so much about? over 400 runs by Pup in the two tests
What was it Graeme Smith said in the interview? "We played bad but didn't lose". Really inspirational stuff that
Will be great to have Watson back, and hope they give Ponting one more chance :-)

Oh dear
Hopefully Ricky will get a double century in his last test to save it for the Aussies. What a great way to go out.

Re: Cricket in general
638 to win (now 598) with 2 days to do it. We need at least a couple of big centuries to get there, interesting end to the series.

Re: Cricket in general
Top scorer Mitchell Starc.....not a good way to end Ponting's career
Now we can see why they are the No.1 bowling attack though. Their line and length was fantastic, especially Philander. That plus the current world number 1 batsman in the team, Hashim Amla, and we were bound to cop a thumping in at least one of the tests. Great sportsmanship shown by the South Afircans though with Ponting's farewell.

Re: Cricket in general
Still a way to go. It is a bit worrying that the team changes so dramatically from one test to the next.
Will they stick with the last bowling line up or now go back to Siddle and Hillfy? Biggest question is which batsman will the bring in to replace Pointing?

I hope it isn't Phil Hughes...but I bet it will be Either him or Quiney.
They should have had Hilfy in Perth, he is our best swing bowler and that is what they needed there. Well that and the ability to bowl line and length

Re: Cricket in general
How to silence an Indian crowd! Dhoni run out by millimetres on 99 Only thing better would have been if it was Kohli
Re: Cricket in general
Can not believe how bad the Lankins are, 2 days and 2 sessions for a Melb win by the Aussies, far to strong. Probably yawn my way through Syd test next.
Was not so disappointed that India lost a series at home, England winning on the other hand.

At least this test lastest almost 4 days Watzi So sad seing Huss retire, especially still showing such great form. I wonder if there was something else behind it, and being dropped from the one day squad makes me even more suspicious.
Re: Cricket in general
I can not believe they dropped him from the one day squad citing an eye on the future, then bring back brad haddin rather than Paine or Hartley *sigh*

Re: Cricket in general
This ODI series is a joke Watzi
Poor "rotation" policy meaning some players are too scared to play their normal game, disgraceful umpiring decisions, then a dodgy umpire call to stop the game when SL would have gone on to win it, saying the ground was unplayable, when both teams were willing to play and the commentators (all ex professional cricket players) saying the ground was fine. Call me sceptical, but something just wasn't right about it.
Now Aus can only draw the series or lose it.
Couple of 20/20s on the long weekend though

Re: Cricket in general
I agree BM, I am not showing much interest in the cricket at the moment. In the end a drawn series, not much taken away from that other than we still have a lot of injured players or the rotation policy is a rotation policy. I can believe the coaching staff deny that it is a rotation policy.
At least Shield cricket is back with 2 games on.

And the second one dayer as well. Have not seen a ball of this series, but just saw the end of the commentary some WI guy hit 4 6's in a row of Maxwell. I am guesse a great knock by Bailey.

Re: Cricket in general
Yeah, it is great. I was not expecting the current crop of players to perform so well, it was the old guard that got us through the Ashes and now the new boys are stepping up.
Mitch has shaken what ever issues he has had and I feel is such a catalyst for this team. Still a few spots are a bit shaky but a long wait for the next Aussie test.
Hope travel is good, work or pleasure?
