Re: Formula1 - 2012
Found out from the GP association that it is the 2 seater doing the early laps around the park. Apparently between 6:30 - 8:00 it takes prize winners for a few laps aeound the track.
Re: Formula1 - 2012
Here is a link to a Age Article describing taking a ride in the 2 seater, quite funny.

Re: Formula1 - 2012
Wow first qually done and a few surprises there.
- Ferrari not in the last part
- Lotus at both ends of the field (Kimi out in first part, big surprise, and Romain 3rd on the grid)
- McLaren look to have a bit of the edge at the moment
- Webber out qualifies Vettel, will be a very interesting run into the first corner for all.
Looking forward to the race now.

Re: Formula1 - 2012
So what did we think? Looks like you covered all bases Willy.
I ended up going to the race and have not seen it. Stood at the exit of corner 2, was OK but struggled to know who was in what position and what was going on. Those cars a very, very loud (even with the cheese in my ears).
- It seems Button was so strong all day.
- From what I have read Hamiliton had the sooks
- Webber another crap start
- Safety car worked best for Red Bull (still not sure how Vettel got to 2nd and Webber 4th).
- What happened with Webber and Rosberg?

Re: Formula1 - 2012
Well, after a HUGE Saturday night/Sunday morning, I was too ill to enjoy the race, and slept/passed out for most of it Saw the start, and about first 5 laps, then drifted in and out of consciousness for the remainder of the race, and woke up briefly to see the finish Looks like it is going to be one super competetive season!
Re: Formula1 - 2012
What an eventful race! Go Sergio Perez. If he didn't make that small mistake it would have been great to see him fighting with Alonso, although, was it team orders like the commentators mentiomed? Not wanting to upset the main Ferrari team
Loved the radio exchange with Vettel at the end...bob now, box now box, box now...stay out, stay out..stop car now, emergency!

Re: Formula1 - 2012
Was away last week and initially thought I would not get to see the race but as it turned out I got to see it, really enjoyed it.
I think the commentators where being a bit stupid with that comment about team orders, it looked like Sergio was fighting to the end and just got a little wide on that corner, was glad he did not beach it. I think the radio comment was about protecting the points and not doing anything stupid.
It looks like it will be a good season this year with many teams being in the hunt for good points. 13th of April for the next race in China.

The F1 circus is in China this weekend looking forward to this, time it is being telecast is still really friendly.
After China is Bahrain, I don't know much about the whole situation there (and the news only reports what is going to sell papers etc), do you think they should race there or not? Bernie comes out with a great quote,

from article in Crash.net"We've no way we can force people to go there," he said. "We can't say 'you've got to go' - although they would be in breach of their agreement with us if they didn't go - but it doesn't help. Commercially they have to go, but whether they decide to or not is up to them.

Re: Formula1 - 2012
Saw the start of the race & thought it was curtains for Mark AGAIN....... when are they going to fix the start issue with these damn Red Bull cars.
When Nico was so far out in front I had tuned out a bit as i was trying to get a few things done around the house & missed some 10 - 15 laps.
Thankfully got the last 6 laps & when Mark passed Vettel i was very relieved.
I was waiting for the "Mark just hold positing please". But none of that.
Great to see a win for Nico, was an awesome drive

Re: Formula1 - 2012
That quote was from when Schumacher ulled out wasn't it? I did feel sorry for him, would have been great to see how he went. The poor pit bloke did try and stop the car at the time. I wonde if the wheel guys have a mic or not.
Was an excellent race though, with some great wheel to wheel racing, and only one car retiring.
There was another great quote from Denis Cometti yesterday in the Hawks game when Buddy Franklin was on the screen. "if I had a body like that I wouldn't own a shirt"

Re: Formula1 - 2012
What a interesting season we are in for, 4 different winners 4 races. Enjoyed the Bahrain race and nice to see a mix up of teams up the front.
I still find it hard to believe that Webber was that far behind Vettel at the end, he did not seem to spend a great deal of time stuck behind people.
Well we have another round of testing the 2 weeks till the next GP.

Re: Formula1 - 2012
Yeah, was a brilliant race, and very happy to see the Lotus cars doing so well. Geez Ricciardo went backwards in a hurry, from 6th on the grid to finish about 16th. Geez Hamilton (and McLaren in general) had a dirty grand prix. That back left wheel must have done something wrong in a previous life
Re: Formula1 - 2012
WOW! What an amazing qualifying! Hamilton stripped of pole and now starts last, Webber and Button missing out on Q3, Maldonardo starting on pole. Should be a great race.
Re: Formula1 - 2012
Been away for the weekend but home for the GP now.
From what I read I am disappointed to mis the qualy. Incredible.

Re: Formula1 - 2012
What the hell happened to Red Bull.
Both suffered issues with front nose cones detatching.
Must say great win for Williams, it has been a long time coming.

Hey...it's Willy
I reckon Williams will sack whoever brought the cake with candles on it into the pits afterwards though How bad was that fire in their pits after the race?

Re: Formula1 - 2012
WOW that was a massive fire.
I think it was the sparklers rather than the candles BM.
I bet they were running around swinging them willy nilly & BOOM

Re: Formula1 - 2012
What a race. Really enjoyed it even if I was quietly being frustrated about Mark going nowhere. Bad start and then the nose problem that seems very mysterious. It would be great if he could get a decent start for once and then fight from there. The front 3 really pulled away from the field very quickly and really where never going to be caught. How fast was Kimi at the end?
Great to see Williams win, what a season and who is going to win next. I guess in Monacco it is all about quallifying so will see if that runs to form.
