ORA HistorX Empty ORA HistorX

Post  BM Wed Dec 30, 2009 4:52 am

How many of you ORA Forum members are going to sign up for the HistorX series next year? I am definately interested as I love racing different cars in the same category Smile I am not holding my breath for increased numbers in our own races next year, so am happy to start looking elsewhere, and ORA seems to be the place, plus Triggy is an admin there which is always a good thing Smile

I did some practising around the first track of the series in the old Shelby Cobra, Ferrari, Austin Healey, Porsche, Corvette Stingray, Ford GT40 etc and had a blast. The Shelby Cobra was the most fun and definately the fastest, but not sure if I can keep it on the track for a whoel race Sad Will most likely go the 2005 Porsche.

Got down to a 2:03 in the Cobra, geez it's an awesome car to drive. I tend to use the throttle to steer more than the wheel Razz Sound is brilliant too!!

I'll be running in the HistoriX. I think it might be limited to the TC-65 class. Can't remember. Just be aware that generally they limit to a specific class when racing the historix. I tend to be pretty shocking at these things, but, enjoy the racing and the company. It'd be good to see more of you fine folks, here or there.

The cars are restricted to the GTC-65 class Triggy. I did these times on the ORA server when Quasi was there Smile The server is already restricted to the appropriate class Smile

Hey Willy, not sure if you need GT Legends, or did you get that image file from the ORA site? Does that need the GT Legends? If you do need it let me know, as you can use mine.

Installed and ready to play. (You gave me a copy of GT Legends anyway)

Going to do a few practice races offline around Singapore to pick the right car.

Looks interesting so far.

Just an idea Willy, try them around the track ORA are using for the first round. I hate that Singapore track for anything except the F1s anyway Very Happy

Yeah, I got down to a 2:07 in the Porsche with much more control than the Cobra, so have decided to go with that car considering the rest of the tracks are windier. You have to make sure the car hasn't been taken yet too Smile Had a blast around the old Spa track with the 67 F1s today too on the ORA server, that is awesome fun Smile We have locked the house, not answering the phones, and just laying around doing whatever we want for a few days Razz

Shocked

I never got out my PJ's today.

Only had to put on clothes to take the dog to the park.

Triggy, are you still going to enter the HistorX series as well as the 67 F1 series? I am debating whether to do both, and the main thing keeping me in the 67 f1 series is you being in it Very Happy

Yeah mate. I am going to do the f1s for sure. Probably going to do the HistoriX as well. Been very scarce the last month as I am exercising at the moment. I plan to be at the F1 preview event on Saturday and am going to try to do some practice tomorrow night if you are keen.

Yeah Triggy, I am starting running/gym again from Monday when I finish holidays, so schedule will be dinner, running or gym, then onto rFactor for some practise for the 2 series Smile The F1s around Charade are a real challenge, so you will need to get some practise in Wink I am not sure if most are still away on holidays, but there hasn't been much interest in the SLAK server so I am keen to focus on those other 2 series as there will be some great racing I reckon Smile

I've just finished training and shower. Not really feeling like driving atm. Sorry about that. I am going to have to try and make time during the day tomorrow. I hate turning up without even having driven the tracks.....

The F1s are a real blast. Looking forward to that championship.

All good, being doing a few fun laps with some of the guys. Trying out the Corvette, GT40, Shelby GT350 etc. The GT40 is about 10 seconds a lap faster than the middle of the pack cars, so hopefully their tyres will go off quickly Very Happy Hopefully I can stay on the track in the F1s, they certainly are a handful Smile

Hope you enjoyed the run tonight BM. It was great to see you there. The field was down nearly half on the first event, but, I put that down to the holidays. Still a field of over 10 is nothing to be sneezed at.

How did you find it?

Had a great time in the first race Triggy, managed to go the whole race without spinning doing consistent 1:55s. Ended up 5th due to the large number of retirees Smile In the second race I lost concentration coming into that tight last turn on the first lap and hit the wall. Bent my steering so spend the next 20 minutes driving with the wheel about 20 degrees off centre and only just maintaining control. Had a huge accident at about the 28 minute mark and was going to try and limp home on 3 wheels but got off the track so I didn't get in the way of the leaders and got bogged on some soft grass and my motor overheated Crying or Very sad Was still good fun though Smile

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I've found with those cars, like other cars, that I have a couple of spots on most tracks where, if I am going to go off, it will happen there. Fortunately of late these spots have been relatively good in terms of not doing any damage. I hope this trend continues!

Geez it's going to be interesting for the actual race at Charade Triggy with the full field of 24 entries there affraid Lucky Quasi has given in and has lowered the damage % Wink Was hard enough with a field of about 12 or whatever started Very Happy Notice there is now 18 starters registered for the HistorX series too, although the GT40s will be a fair way ahead of the rest of us Very Happy That is going to be a sensational championship bounce

I think you will be surprised with the GT40s. In the monster Targa they didn't get within cooee of the front. Too hard to handle the power from what I can tell. It'll be interesting. I still haven't tested any cars.....

I am just going by Hotlap times that have been set on the servers over the last few weeks Triggy. Around Hungaroring the GT40 is almost 10 seconds per lap faster than the middle of the pack cars...e.g Porsche, Elan etc and about 5 - 6 seconds around Russian Ring Long Reverse. Riftcreater was on with us the other night and swapped to the Porsche and couldn't believe the difference Shocked Tyre wear will hopefully even things out a bit though.

I think tyre wear and fuel consumption will play a big part. I did 1-2 less pitstops in the targa than the front runners. Bit of a difference in the shorter races I am sure, but, handling towards the end of a stint will bring them back to the field a bit. But will it be enough??
